About Pereira Custom Clarinets, Saxophones, and Flutes
In 2025, the Pereira Custom clarinet line was carefully developed after experiencing instrument prices rising every year. The line includes Bb, Plateau-Key Bb, A, Eb, C, Eb Alto, and Bass (with range to Low C) clarinets. They're made to sing in symphony orchestras, pit orchestras, and bands, but can absolutely be used in marching band and other outdoor situations as well, since the materials are NOT susceptible to cracking or changing over time. I designed each instrument with the following points in mind:
-
The body, barrel, bell, etc., are extensively hand-finished and voiced to sound, tune, and respond at their best
-
You have the choice of barrel/bell/extension set-up to perfectly match your sound concept
-
"Traditional" Set-Up includes Philadelphia Barrels/Traditional Extension/Custom Bell
-
"Dark" Set-Up includes Bold Barrels/Bold Extension/Custom Bell
-
-
Left-Hand Eb/Ab levers come standard with Bb (the standard open-hole model), A, C, Eb, and Bass clarinets (and is easily removable if you choose to play without it!)
-
All Eb clarinets come with "cutout" barrels, so players have the option to use unmodified Bb clarinet reeds on their Eb clarinet
-
The materials will never crack or change due to temperature or humidity factors, require a break-in process, and can even be used in dry/cold weather playing situations
-
2 barrel lengths come standard to provide options for different mouthpieces or different intonation scenarios
-
The keywork and posts feature thicker silver plating, so the keys are extremely durable and will stay in regulation longer
-
Those who tend to play low F & E flat (i.e., on a Buffet R13 or similar) can have the option to have a small vent hole in the bell at no extra charge
The upper and lower joints are crafted from a proprietary hard rubber and feature a polycylindrical (a modified R13-style) bore with undercut tone holes. The bass clarinet bodies, however, are made from a wood-composite blend material. Leather pads are installed, which are long-lasting and allow for a warm sound with seamless legato (and bass clarinet pads come with metal resonators installed throughout). All Pereira Custom Clarinets come with your choice of either 3D Blackwood or 3D Mahogany barrels/bell/extension. 3D Blackwood provides more focus, center, and "ping" or color in the sound. 3D Mahogany provides slightly more warmth and darkness of sound, with a bit more flexibility in the feel of the response. The tone hole extension that's provided is an optional piece placed between the lower joint and the bell, which helps focus and control the response while adding more density and core to the sound. It will also help the intonation of the twelfths between low E/F and B/C. Bass clarinets come with both sitting AND standing pegs. Bass and Alto clarinets come with a backpack-style case that's very comfortable to transport. As of March 2026, the Balance Series of Bb, A, and Eb clarinets is now available for professional design at an even more accessible price point, which is perfect for artists on a budget.
All Pereira Custom Instruments come with a 2-year shop warranty.

Additional Customizations for New Clarinets

Saxophones & Flutes
In 2026, the Pereira Custom line expanded to SATB saxophones, flutes, and piccolos. These instruments were developed to address the gap in the market for high-quality instruments at an accessible price point. This helps doublers expand their instrument palette and gives artists on a budget access to a dependable instrument. All of my saxophones and flutes are carefully made and feature professional bore design and key work. The result is a high-quality instrument without breaking the bank that will be excellent in orchestra, wind ensemble, the pit, or for musicians looking to expand their doubling possibilities. Furthermore, it avoids the risk of buying used and discovering it's a fixer-upper, an "overhauled" instrument that was misadvertised, or even a lemon without a return policy. Pereira Custom Saxophones and Flutes do not have any 3D-printed features, but are designed to be meticulously crafted instruments set up by a technician before sale.
