Neckpieces act as a bridge for the two-piece slide of bass clarinet necks. This affects the vibration and works for the player to improve sound production and response. As a result, the sound becomes significantly fuller and more even across the range of the bass clarinet. The instrument's response also becomes more centered, controlled, and even, especially for the left-hand notes. It really has a remarkable impact for such a simple piece!
The Standard profile offers a larger, open, more robust quality of sound. The Hourglass profile offers a more nimble response and focused tone quality. The Cutaway version is meant for necks that have a screw on the neck assembly, such as the Kessler and Selmer Privilege bass clarinets among others. If you have an irregular brand, use the contact page to ensure the measurements will provide a proper fit, but please note that your neck must have a detachable tuning slide for a Neckpiece to be installed.
Neckpieces are currently available in 3D Blackwood that will not change dimensions/fit over time due to the nature of the material. They are currently available for Buffet Prestige and Tosca bass clarinets, Selmer Privilege bass clarinets, Royal Polaris and Firebird bass clarinets, Ridenour bass clarinets, Kessler bass clarinets, and Blashaus custom bass clarinet necks.
