These extensions impact more than the long-tube notes for your clarinet. You will feel the difference throughout the entire range. Placed between the lower joint and the bell, these extensions help focus and control the sound and response while adding more density and core to the sound. It will also help the twelfths between low E/F and B/C. Credit to Clark W. These pieces also help to make your Bb and A clarinets feel more alike when switching between clarinets.
The Traditional version (the two rightmost extensions in the photo) features a straight-wall exterior and offers more focus and "ping" compared to the Bold version. The Bold version (the two leftmost extensions in the photo), with added exterior mass and a slightly more bulbous shape, rounds out the sound and response, creating a darker sound and a more open and flexible feel.
The extension's tenon uses o-rings instead of cork to connect it to the bell. The o-rings on the bell tenon can be lubricated using cork grease for additional ease when attaching joints. Please re-apply cork grease as needed when the grease wears away and the fit feels tighter — do not use excessive force when installing.
