A completely new style of adjustable clarinet barrel! Compatible with both Bb and A clarinets (and simple to switch between instruments via the barrel while in the orchestra), these barrels adjust 3mm in length with only a very small step in the bore from the cone sleeve that extends into the barrel's lower half (rather than having any notable gap in the bore that would signifcantly impact intonation) as you extend its length from the shortest setting.
See the video in this listing to see how changing the length of the barrel works. The back of the barrel features a set screw (which moves along a guided track inside the barrel) that locks the barrel length into place. To change the length, slightly loosen the set screw (only a half turn or so is necessary) and "shimmy" the barrel left and right as you extend/retract its length. Then, tighten the set screw to lock the length into place. The lines above the center ring accurately show how many millimeters the barrel measure at any given time. As you extend the upper half of the barrel upwards, once another line sits atop the center ring, this marks an additional millimeter in barrel length. You can also set the barrel length between lines (for example, in case 64.5mm rather than 65mm would be more appropriate for your tuning needs!). The mechanism will stop itself when the barrel is "pushed in" or "pulled out" completely thanks to the guided track of the set screw.
The bore design is based on my popular "Philadelphia" model of barrels. This dual reverse taper bore design works well with both Bb and A instruments while providing excellent response, hold, focus, and resonance.
Available in 3D Blackwood and 3D Mahogany. Barrels come in various lengths (see the dropdown menu) and accommodate all instrument types. I recommend selecting the shortest length that you'd need (such as in a colder-room situation) for your instrument as the starting point, and then have the ability to extend the barrel from there.
